Poker is a popular card game played worldwide with many variations. The most common version is Texas Hold\“em, where each player receives two private cards and five community cards are dealt face-up on the table.
The game begins with players placing forced bets called blinds. Then each player is dealt two private cards. There are four rounds of betting where players can check, bet, call, raise, or fold.
After the initial betting round, three community cards called the flop are dealt. Then another betting round occurs. A fourth community card called the turn is dealt, followed by another betting round. Finally, the fifth community card called the river is dealt, and the final betting round takes place.
Players make the best five-card hand using any combination of their two private cards and the five community cards. The player with the highest-ranking hand wins the pot. Hand rankings from highest to lowest are: royal flush, straight flush, four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair, one pair, and high card. |
