Once upon a time in India, there was a wise king who loved to play chess with his subjects. One day, he offered a challenge to his most loyal subject, a poor farmer named Ravi. The king asked Ravi if he could give him something in return for every move he made in the game. Ravi, being an honest man, asked for one grain of rice for the first move, two grains for the second, and so on, doubling the amount with each move.

The king agreed and thought it was a small request. However, as the game progressed, the amount of rice Ravi demanded became too much for the king to fulfill. This story is often used to teach the concept of exponential growth, and it is known as the \“Rice and Chessboard\“ tale.
