Fishing cats, known locally in Pakistan as \“Machli Billi\“, are fascinating creatures found in wetland areas of Sindh and Punjab provinces. While they appear intimidating due to their size and hunting skills, local communities have coexisted with them for generations.
According to Pakistani wildlife experts and rural communities, fishing cats are generally not dangerous to humans. These semi-aquatic felines primarily hunt fish, frogs, and small aquatic animals. They are naturally shy and avoid human contact whenever possible.
