Gambling, however, is viewed more seriously in Pakistani culture. It involves organized games of chance where money is risked, such as card games or casino-style activities. The Quran explicitly prohibits gambling （maisir）, considering it haram （forbidden） due to its potential for addiction and social harm.
Traditional Pakistani culture maintains strong reservations about gambling establishments. While betting on friendly cricket matches might be tolerated in some social circles, organized gambling faces strong religious and social opposition.
