Prince Harry is the Global Ambassador of Scotty\“s Little Soldiers
Prince Harry is reaching out to children who know the pain of loss all too well.
Ahead of the U.K.’s Remembrance Sunday, the Duke of Sussex penned a heartfelt letter to bereaved military children, reminding them they’re never truly alone. The message was shared on November 6 by Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity that supports children and young people who’ve lost a parent serving in the British Armed Forces. Advertisement
“As Remembrance approaches, I wanted to write and let you know how incredibly proud we all are of you,” Harry, 41, wrote, per People magazine. “This time of year can bring a lot of emotions — pride, love, and sometimes sadness – as you remember your parent or loved one who served our country.”
Harry, who was just 12 when he lost his mother, Princess Diana, continued, “Please know you’re not alone in that. You’ve got each other, and a whole community of friends and family who understand what this time means and who are standing right beside you, myself included.”
The Duke has supported Scotty’s since 2017 and became its Global Ambassador in 2023. During that time, he welcomed two children of his own — Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4 — with his wife Meghan Markle.
In his letter, he praised the children’s resilience, saying, “Every time I see what Scotty’s families do – the way you remember your loved ones while still finding joy and living life to the fullest – I’m reminded of just how strong and inspiring you all are. Your mums and dads would be so proud of you. We all are.”
Reflecting on his own military service, Harry added, “That same spirit lives in all of you. Through Scotty’s, you carry forward your parents’ legacy — one built on love, courage, and service, and you keep that spirit alive every day.” |
