 Prince Harry destroys Prince William\“s Brazil tour by announcing his own
Prince Harry is heading back to his old Canadian stomping grounds right as Prince William takes center stage in Brazil.
The Duke of Sussex’s upcoming visit to Toronto, announced just as his brother landed in Rio de Janeiro for the Earthshot Prize, has royal watchers buzzing about the curious timing. Advertisement
While William was busy scaling Sugarloaf Mountain to launch Latin America’s first ever Earthshot Prize ceremony, Harry’s team confirmed his plans for a Remembrance Week trip to Canada complete with meetings with veterans, active service members, and charities supporting the armed forces.
According to Harry’s spokesperson, however, the Toronto trip has been “months in the planning.”
The city holds special meaning for the duke, it’s where the 2017 Invictus Games took place and, of course, where his love story with Meghan Markle first blossomed.
Looks like both brothers will be making headlines this week, one saving the planet, the other saluting the troops.
Royal watchers were quick to point out what they see as a breach of an unspoken Windsor rule, no major announcements while another royal is on official foreign duty.
“It’s always impressive how seamlessly these ‘just announced’ updates land right as Prince William steps out in Rio,” one social media user quipped.
Another wasn’t so kind, writing, “Canada doesn’t want him here… he and his wife do this for publicity.”
Still, Harry has his supporters. “I’m sure he’ll be a big hit in Toronto,” one fan countered.
Meanwhile, Prince William’s Brazilian tour continues with three packed days of environmental events, culminating in the glitzy Earthshot gala before he jets off to Belem for the COP30 climate summit. |
