  New mathematical model challenges very existence of life  

In a recent breakthrough, a new study suggests that life should not exist as natural emergence of life from non-living matter was near to impossible than previously presumed.  

The research was led by Robert G. Endres of Imperial College London and based on state-of-the-art mathematical methods. Advertisement

The researchers applied algorithmic complexity and information theory to assess the self-assembly of the protocell, which is the first living cell.  

These mathematical models show the improbability of the self-assembly process. If this process would be left purely to natural conditions, still the emergence of life would be impossible.  

Another challenge lies in understanding the emergence of life as it requires highly structured biological information. Unfortunately, these natural biological systems cannot be made in proper order.  

However, this mathematical model does not prove that life should not exist. Owing to the knowledge gap, it is difficult to find the true origin of life.
