In Pakistani culture and Islamic teachings, gambling is considered haram (forbidden) according to clear Quranic verses and Hadith. The Quran explicitly prohibits gambling in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 219, stating that while there may be some benefit in gambling, the sin is greater than the benefit.

From a Pakistani cultural perspective, gambling is viewed as harmful to society and family structure. It leads to financial ruin, family conflicts, and social problems that contradict Islamic values of responsibility and moderation. Traditional Pakistani society strongly discourages any form of gambling, including lottery, card games, and casino activities.

Islamic scholars in Pakistan consistently emphasize that gambling destroys the concept of halal earnings and promotes reliance on chance rather than hard work and prayer. The money earned through gambling is considered impure and unacceptable for charitable purposes or daily sustenance.

Many Pakistanis follow the religious ruling that gambling not only harms the individual but also affects the community by normalizing haram activities. This cultural and religious stance helps maintain social harmony and protects families from the devastating consequences of gambling addiction.
