Prince William embraces uncle Andrew in moving video as close bond shattersPrince William has been at the forefront with his father King Charles as the disgraced Andrew was stripped off of all his royal honours and privileges.
The Prince of Wales reportedly ‘hates’ his uncle and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson who have continued to cause trouble for the royals. Advertisement
Hence, it came as a surprise when a rare glimpse of a heartwarming bond between the uncle and nephew resurfaced as the ties between them turned sour.
In a video clip from Andrew and Fergie\“s wedding held at Westminster Abbey in July 1986, a young Prince William, who was a page boy that day, is seen running towards his uncle and flings himself into his arms.
Andrew, dressed in his uniform staying next to his bride, eagerly bends down to catch him affectionately and kiss his head.
The sweet moment indicates that there was genuine love between the two relatives before everything went bitter in the years to come.
The former Duke of York and his slew of scandals had embarrassed the royal family for years especially after his shady friendship with paedophile Jeffery Epstein was uncovered.
The late Virginia Giuffre, Andrew and Epstein’s most vocal accuser, had triggered a series of events for the monarch’s shamed brother with her posthumous memoir, Nobody’s Girl, which will be inked history pages as a stark reminder of the dark period in the royal family.
The seriousness of the allegations and the mounting pressure from the public forced the King to take action. First, Andrew announced that he was relinquishing his titles and honours as the allegations “distracted” from the work of the royal family but “vigorously” denied it.
Then the style and honours were stripped off of him and a formal process was initiated to evict him from the lavish Windsor property, Royal Lodge.
Previously biographer Tina Brown said William “can’t abide” his uncle and wants him to “disappear”.
Even though William has his grievances and fully supported his father, he did express concerns for his mental health, a cause he has been advocated for.
It may appear that William still holds a soft spot give the bond he once shared but that hasn\“t stopped him for making a difficult decision for the sake of the monarchy.
