In the spirit of harmony and solidarity, the King and Queen the first traditional Hindu stone temple as they celebrated its 30 years. They were welcomed with colourful flower garlands, and wished the devotees at the temple a ‘Happy Diwali’, a Hindu festival which was celebrated earlier this month.
It is considered Europe’s first traditional Hindu stone temple, which was opened in August 1995.
“Both The King and Queen have been to the Temple before. In 1996, His Majesty, as Prince of Wales, made an official visit, the year after it opened,” the statement read alongside a carousel of images.
“During today’s engagement, Their Majesties met worshippers and representatives from community and social impact initiatives supported by the Temple, including The Felix Project and Women of the World （WoW）.”
The royal couple was shown around the shrine as they met the dignitaries at the temple. They viewed the ten-metre-high central dome, renowned for its intricate carvings and indulged in quiet reflection.
The update comes as experts believe that the Charles had handed over a major chunk of responsibilities to his heir. Royal expert Maureen Callahan told Daily Mail that the King has “handed over the crown”.
She noted that William had already been “making power moves” especially with how he handled the Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson situation. Th expert shared that while Charles may have some hesitation for certain decisions, William “clearly has no such squeamishness”.
